My aim as a driving instructor is to teach safe driving for your future - not to just get you through the driving test. The media often record tragedies on today’s roads, more often than not involving young and relatively inexperienced drivers. These events always have a cause and, sadly, could nearly all have been avoided. It is my career ambition to instil a genuine belief in the value of safe driving in all new drivers I teach.

Your driving lessons will take you on a variety of types of roads in varying traffic conditions. When you have achieved the appropriate skill level, busier urban situations requiring heightened awareness and observation skills, as well as faster rural roads where safe vehicle handling is of prime importance, will be introduced. Many driving schools do not always cover these important out-of-town elements, which provide a valuable foundation for your future safe motoring beyond the driving test itself.

I can offer further driver training under the “Pass Plus” scheme once you have passed your driving test. This course will build upon the experience gained while you were training for your driving test and will instruct you in driving on narrow and quiet country roads, faster country roads, dual carriageways, Motorways and busier roads in town. The Pass Plus training will help build confidence in your own driving capabilities and fill in the gaps which you may not have experienced in your lessons as a Learner, such as dealing with night time driving, different weather and light conditions, farm traffic (possibly including animals and muddy roads) and much more. You will also have your first instruction in Motorway driving, which presents the driver with very different challenges from driving on other roads.

Today’s Motorway networks are becoming ever more complex, daunting and busy, especially in regions such as ours, where Motorways serve the large conurbations of Leeds, Bradford and Manchester. I believe that supplementary training with a qualified driving instructor is a vital requirement before a new driver ventures onto the Motorway network without any experience at all - the Pass Plus scheme will provide that first experience. Finally, once you have completed your course of Pass Plus driving lessons you should become eligible for discounted motor insurance: this alone, for young and inexperienced drivers, can be an attractive reason for making a further investment in training, following success in the driving test.
