How long does it take to learn to drive?

According to DSA statistics, the current average is 45 hours of tuition (Driving Standards Agency average, 2006), PLUS 22 hours of private practice!

People have individual learning requirements and speeds - I have coached candidates to first time test success in as little as 25 hours, but many others require 30 to 40 (and sometimes more) hours before reaching driving test standard. Much depends on a person’s practical and learning abilities, but even more can depend upon enthusiasm and hard work! As a driving instructor I have had the privilege of working with dyspraxic and dyslexic pupils who have proved that extra effort, determination and the will to succeed will usually overcome any difficulties encountered in the learning process.

Individual driving lessons are normally 1 hour or 1.5 hours in duration but other sessions can also be arranged
